Bike For A Cause: R.O.X.’s Gives Back to the Biking Community
February 1, 2016
As biking is starting to become a more popular outdoor activity in the Philippines, R.O.X. (Recreational Outdoor eXchange) has made it a point to be the first to actively promote this emerging sport through a series of fun and educational activities.
For four years now, R.O.X. has been holding its highly-anticipated Bike Fair, which showcases various activities lined up for a whole month that promotes the sport andl likewise nurtures the community. And this year is no different as R.O.X.’s Bike Fair returns to takes things to a whole new level as it adds more exciting events and activities to its month-long biking affair.
Held from July 15 to August 16, the Bike Fair featured a roster of educational and recreational activities throughout different parts of the country including special sales, biking events, and a bike donation drive.
But apart from being the usual friendly competition which gathers bikers from all corners of the metro in celebration of their mutual love for the sport, this year’s Bike Fair also served as platform that gathered biking enthusiasts to collectively give back and empower the community through the 4th Bike For A Cause event, which was held during the last Sunday of the month-long event at Marquee Mall, Pampanga City.
Presented in cooperation with Marquee Mall, the Primer Group of Companies, Fox, Osprey, Timbuk2, Dahon, Felt Bicycle, Tern, Bickerton, and Biologic, this year’s R.O.X. Bike For A Cause event was organized by Hubble Multisports. From merely having 200 registered participants, this year’s Bike For A Cause garnered 1000++ registered participants who all came together to ride it out for a good cause.
In the past, R.O.X. was able to donate a total of 5-units of bike racks to the Pampanga High School in 2013 and 2014, and this year, with the aid of Bikes for the Philippines, R.O.X. was able to turn over 3 bike racks to Concepcion Integrated School in San Simon Pampanga.
At the event, Mr. Naszer C. Yco and Mr. Joel Uichico of Bikes for the Philippines personally presented the donation to the beneficiaries of the bike racks. Also, special prizes such as the “Most Unique Bike”, and “Most Number of Riders in a Group”, were also announced during the event along side the turn-over of the donation drive to Bikes for the Philippines.
Indeed, the R.O.X. Bike Fair 2015 was once again an outstanding success – attracting a huge turnout from the biking community as well as the support of bloggers and friends from the media. But most importantly, it was able to serve the purpose of being a powerful instrument in nurturing the growth of the biking community as well as in promoting the sport to a greater audience.
